LOOK AGAIN

Look within,
Look around,
Look ahead,

up front,
there's a beam.
Look right,
Look left,
but do not
look behind.
There's so little
to behold back there.
Look. Look
at me,
there are really
signs everywhere,
amongs us,
every ticking day
walking the same roads with us.
Look upwards,
the clouds
do not compete
for a place
upon the sea of heaven
the stars,
among the shiny things,
neither the birds,
for beauty or worms.
Look down at your feet
then a little bit
behind, those
footprints you left
will be wiped out soon.
Look at the lines engraved
on your palms.
Look closely.
They chose you,
now, choose them back.
Look at the smiling face
before you.
How it brightens like
a purple hibiscus,
the set of white teeth
and the glassy eyes
staring back at you.
Look, look into your
heart.
What do you find?
What are you in search of?
Look at yourself,
picture it,
that which you seek
And maybe you
would find it.
When you look at yourself again.

need balance

there's some beauty in darkness:
something interesting about
the way the air would heavily light
an irony of perfect juxtaposition. there's some beauty in ugly:
something intriguing about the
huge grotesque scars that
seem to never want to go away. there's some beauty in evil:
un peu de la purité in
the heart of a condemned man,
an innocence buried beneath a blanket of
bottled up emotions. these little beauties we
choose to neglect
aren't they the very things that
make living bearable? who would be good without the existence
of evil?
who would be beautiful without ugliness?
or what story could ever be told without scars? need beauty and ugliness,
need scars and healing oils,
need good and evil,
need all the balance to remain
steady and sane in this
crazy crazy world. need balance:
then imbalance to
balance the human equation
now and again.
