LOOK AGAIN

Look within,
Look around,
Look ahead,

up front,
there's a beam.
Look right,
Look left,
but do not
look behind.
There's so little
to behold back there.
Look. Look
at me,
there are really
signs everywhere,
amongs us,
every ticking day
walking the same roads with us.
Look upwards,
the clouds
do not compete
for a place
upon the sea of heaven
the stars,
among the shiny things,
neither the birds,
for beauty or worms.
Look down at your feet
then a little bit
behind, those
footprints you left
will be wiped out soon.
Look at the lines engraved
on your palms.
Look closely.
They chose you,
now, choose them back.
Look at the smiling face
before you.
How it brightens like
a purple hibiscus,
the set of white teeth
and the glassy eyes
staring back at you.
Look, look into your
heart.
What do you find?
What are you in search of?
Look at yourself,
picture it,
that which you seek
And maybe you
would find it.
When you look at yourself again.

the houses separated by the heavy silence

the absolute conservation of shades the trees
cast here- was totally me. he. he was the busy streets of Obalende:
the unrepentant conductors yelling,
'Yaba! CMS! Yaba! Yaba!
the circular circulation of human sweat waving
through the air like Oxygen.
neglecting the weaknesses of island Ajebutters and JJC pedestrians. at night i was the city of J-Town after 8pm.
quiet. eerily so.
soldiers securing fences of the selected few.
smoking stuff and drinking liquor,
with AK-forty-somethings to bring down any rebel who dared to equal. he was the busy streets of Lasgidi at night:
the traffic, in French translated to, "la circulation"
right up from Admitalty Way through the Toll gates.
Cars honking, drivers cursing, almost excitedly at each other.
LASTMA officials obeying the call to rip-off 'rich' drivers. …
